Rounded, almost sculptural masses of deep gold and warm amber gathered at the center of a soft, hazy field — the richest palette and heaviest texture in The Plaster Works. The brushwork is circular and layered, building forms that look molded rather than painted. Cool blue-grey at the top keeps the gold from going one-note. Field Notes

There are two things happening at once: a dense core of worked, reworked paint where the gold is deepest and the forms are thickest, and a soft atmospheric edge where the color thins to warm cream and disappears. That shift from solid to vapor is what gives the piece its scale — it feels bigger than its dimensions because the eye moves from weight to air and back again.
