Field Notes

The composition hinges on that off-center cross where the dark lines intersect — a structural joint that organizes four different tonal zones around it. Ochre at lower left, blush at far left, cream across the right, and a block of warm white above. The charcoal marks feel drawn rather than painted, almost like pencil lines on raw plaster, which gives the piece a sense of construction — something being measured or mapped rather than poured.

The most restrained piece in The Plaster Works and the easiest to place in spaces that lean minimal or structured. Pairs well with Afternoon Wall or Dissolve if you're building a warm gallery wall with some tonal variation.
