Vertical abstract wall art in warm white with fine contour lines covering the full surface — soft grey-green, closely spaced, flowing around irregular open voids that read like terrain seen from altitude. The edges of the piece are torn rather than cut, which shows through the frame as a deliberate material detail. Field Notes

Part of the Material Trace Studies — a series about surfaces and the marks they carry. No. 08 is the most cartographic piece in the collection: the contour logic is direct, the voids read as high ground surrounded by elevation lines, and the overall effect is closer to a hand-drawn survey document than anything else in the series. The Coast Range topography north of the bay looks like this at the right scale — ridgelines and drainage basins rendered as line density.

Framed and ready to hang. The deckled edge makes this one worth examining up close, not just from across the room. Works as a standalone statement piece or paired with No. 07 for a two-piece arrangement that moves from abstract line work to explicit terrain mapping.
