A large terracotta form and a cream form sit side by side, outlined in black, filling most of the canvas against a pale grey-white ground. The terracotta has real texture to it — brushwork visible across the surface, color shifting slightly from top to bottom. Confident warm abstract wall art for a living room or dining room that can handle a dominant color presence. White frame was chosen to hold that boundary between the cream form and the background, keeping the composition from going too warm.

Field Notes

Part of Terra Forms — a series drawn from the surface qualities and shapes of Northern California's ceramic tradition. Unglazed earthenware, slab-built pottery, the matte finish of fired clay before any gloss is applied. No. 03 is about material weight: two forms occupying the same plane, each holding its ground. The visible brushwork across the terracotta references the tool marks left on a freshly thrown vessel — evidence of the hand.

Works well alongside No. 02 for a two-piece pairing, or as a single warm statement in a room with linen, raw wood, or plaster walls. Framed and ready to hang.
