Stacked Stone

The composition stacks and arranges rectangular forms the way dry-stacked stone walls do throughout Northern California wine country — retaining walls along vineyard hillsides, old cellar foundations, the fieldstone borders marking property lines that have been there longer than anyone remembers who built them. The palette pulls from that same source material: the warm taupe of sandstone, dusty blush of weathered mortar, slate grey where rain and shade have darkened the surface over decades. Black accents pin the arrangement together the way shadow defines the gaps between stones. There's a terracotta-pink form near center that adds just enough warmth to keep the piece from reading cold, and the whole composition sits denser than Plaster Study — less floating, more built.
