Field Notes

Most of the surface here is open and breathing. The texture is subtle — fine scratches, faint underlayers showing through, the slight variation of hand-worked plaster rather than heavy impasto. All the tension lives in the center where the blush and cream meet: a rough, torn-looking edge that keeps the composition from going too polished.
