Vertical abstract wall art with a large open cream field at center, bordered on all four sides by dense parallel line work in warm taupe — the marks running horizontally across the top and bottom, vertically along both sides, fraying slightly where they meet the open interior. The result is a piece that frames its own emptiness. Works well in a bedroom, hallway, or any space where a quiet vertical piece needs to hold a wall without asking anything of the room around it. White frame extends the composition's interior logic edge to edge.

Field Notes

Part of the Material Trace Studies — a series about surfaces and the marks they carry. No. 12 closes the collection by inverting its premise: instead of mark covering ground, mark surrounds ground. The dense border references the fringe and selvage edges of woven fabric — the part of a material that records how it was made and where it ends. The open center isn't empty; it's what the border is holding.
