Warm cream abstract wall art with a fine hand-drawn grid covering the entire surface — dark grey lines crossing in both directions, close together, with a subtle undulation that keeps it from feeling mechanical. Part of the Material Trace Studies — a series about what surfaces record. No. 05 is the most textile of the collection: the grid doesn't organize space, it builds material. The slight irregularity in the line spacing is what makes it work — close enough to even that the eye reads it as pattern, loose enough that it never feels printed. Think raw burlap, or the mesh netting that covers young vines in the valley in early spring.
