Warm cream abstract wall art with a fine-line grid overlaid across the full surface — irregular rectangular forms crossing and overlapping, drawn in warm gold over a softly stained ground. Part of the Material Trace Studies — a series built around surfaces and what they record. No. 04 is the most structured piece in the collection, though the structure is never rigid. The grid reads like the kind of land survey or site plan that documents how a place was divided before it became what it is — the kind of hand-drawn map you'd find in an old agricultural office in the Napa Valley, lines running slightly past their corners, stained where moisture found the paper.
