Cool-neutral art print with a single large grey field sitting low against a warm white ground — separated by just two thin horizontal lines. Almost nothing on the surface, which is what makes it work. Ships unframed so you can pair it with whatever frame fits your space. Good for a bedroom, hallway, or studio where the walls are already neutral and you want something that adds presence without adding noise.

Field Notes

From the Material Trace Studies — a series focused on what a surface can say with very little. This piece is the quietest in the collection. The grey field has a density to it, like sealed concrete or matte plaster, while the upper field stays airy and open. The two thin bands between them do more work than they look like they should.

A good affordable minimalist art print for spaces that lean spare. Frame it in white and it nearly disappears into the wall in the best possible way. Pairs naturally with other Material Trace pieces or works on its own in a room that doesn't need much.

Paper Quality

Same 250gsm archival matte paper used in our framed editions. Natural white, uncoated, acid-free surface rated to resist yellowing over time. Archival pigment inks rated for 100+ years of color stability. Ships flat or in a protective tube depending on size.

Printed to order using FSC-certified materials. No warehoused inventory, no overproduction. We print exactly what gets ordered.

Care & Display

We recommend framing under glass or plexiglass for long-term display. Until framed, store flat and away from direct sunlight and moisture. Not recommended for unframed display in bathrooms or outdoor areas.
