Part of the Horizon Line Series, this piece captures the visual urgency of signal infrastructure — the red-striped hazard markings on Northern California's power substations, the coral-painted barriers at railroad crossings through the Sacramento Valley, the bright emergency hues imposed on otherwise dark industrial structures. The coral rectangles read as interruptions within the black field, hot color breaking through cold ground with the directness of a signal flag. The composition uses Mondrian-like geometric division — precise rectangles in deliberate asymmetric arrangement — but the palette is industrial rather than primary.
