A large, dark green-black silhouette against a bright chartreuse ground. The form sits right between a standing human torso and a ceramic vessel — a narrow neck, a swelling chest, a wide base. Both figure and ground carry a rough, brushy texture that makes the whole image feel printed rather than painted. Simple, bold, and a little ambiguous. Works well in kitchens, dining areas, or alongside pieces from The Terra Forms collection.

Field Notes

The shape here does double duty on purpose. It's a torso in profile — you can read the chest, the belly, the curve of a hip — but it's also, unmistakably, a jar. A wide-bottomed vessel with a narrow opening at the top. That overlap isn't accidental. Walk through the pottery studios and old workshops scattered across Napa and Sonoma and the silhouettes on the shelves start looking human after a while — round shoulders, narrow waists, forms that hold space the same way a body does. The palette is two-tone green: a bright, almost acidic chartreuse background against a dark forest-black figure, both carrying the same rough, dragged-brush texture. It's a simpler composition than most pieces in this collection, closer to a screen print or a linocut in its flatness, and that directness is what makes it work. No atmosphere, no blur, no distance. Just a form taking up space.
