A dark navy figure built from angular, faceted planes — shoulders, torso, and a geometric head turning slightly to one side. The background splits between a weathered cream upper half and bold blocks of royal blue and cerulean below. Painterly and constructed, with visible brushwork throughout. A confident piece that anchors a modern living room or office wall without needing anything next to it.

Field Notes

This one's solid. Where other pieces in the collection blur or dissolve their figures, Meridian builds its figure the way you'd build a wall — flat planes of navy and indigo stacked and angled until a body appears. The brushwork is visible and deliberate, and the background does real compositional work: that split between the chalky white upper register and the saturated blue below creates a horizon line the figure stands in front of, not inside of. The blue palette pulls from the deeper end of the Northern California coast — not the pastel tourist version, but the cold navy you actually see in the water off Jenner or Bodega Head in January. It reads as abstract figurative art from across the room and rewards a closer look with texture and structure.
