Dry Season

The composition moves through three distinct texture zones — crosshatched grid at the bottom loosening into flowing parallel waves through the middle, then breaking into scattered dots and dashes at the top — all in the red-to-gold spectrum of Northern California's dry season hills. This is what the landscape actually looks like from August through November: golden grass over rolling terrain, the color shifting from amber in the foreground to deeper rust on distant ridges where afternoon light catches differently. The line work references printmaking and weaving traditions, and the way each zone uses a different mark-making system creates the same visual depth you get looking across multiple ridgelines in Sonoma or Napa — each hill a slightly different texture, a slightly different warmth, all of it dry and sun-baked.
