Square abstract coastal wall art — mostly open and cool, with pale blue-grey and soft lavender-pink atmosphere giving way to wide cream and sage below. The focal point is a dense center-left cluster of dark green, navy, and near-black with warm amber light breaking out of it. One small active zone doing all the work against a lot of quiet space. Works well in a bedroom or living room with soft neutral tones — the open areas let it breathe on a busy wall. White frame extends the cool atmosphere to the edge without interruption.

Field Notes

From The Coastal Light Studies — work built around the specific light and color conditions of the Northern California coast. This piece is about a rocky coastal point catching the last direct light of the day: the warmth concentrated in a small zone while the surrounding atmosphere has already shifted to cool grey and lavender. The Sonoma and Marin coasts do this well — sea stacks and headland rock holding amber for a few minutes after everything else has gone cold.

One of the more compositionally restrained pieces in the collection — most of the canvas is quiet, which makes the warm cluster land harder. Works well alongside other Coastal Light works where it can act as a counterweight to busier pieces. Framed and ready to hang.
