Field Notes

The final piece in The Burn Season stops depicting the experience and starts documenting it. Two flat, saturated fields — coral-red above, cobalt blue sinking to near-black below — split the composition with a thin textured seam where hints of orange bleed through. No atmosphere, no landscape, no gesture. Just color laid down in bands like sediment. The red that started as a thread in No. 01, became a slash, became a sky, ends here as a geological record — compressed, structural, and permanent. It's the collection's most graphic piece and the right way to close: not with drama but with weight.
